Make the shipment details consistent
Review the product description, quantity, weight, value and parties across your documents. Differences can lead to questions during processing.
Prepare the core documents
A commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading or air waybill are common starting points. Certificates of origin, permits and supporting documents depend on the goods and transaction.
What your packing list should show
Ask your supplier for a packing list detailing the items, quantities, weights and dimensions of each package. Check that these details are consistent with the commercial invoice and the shipment.
Review before dispatch
Share draft documents with the team assisting your shipment before the supplier finalizes them.
